The last year and a half I have been exploring dramatic and earthy landscapes. I do not paint these pieces to depict the exact location or landmark I have visited, but instead I hope to convey the feelings and emotions associated with those particular memories during that moment in time. As an introvert, creating these modern works tend to take me to a safe space and the pieces then become much more intimate.
Right now, more than ever, most of us are feeling isolated and sedentary. I paint in hopes that I can transport not only myself, but my viewers to these stunning spots around the world. I want the viewer to interpret the art and mood as they see it. If observing my work carries you to a new place and shifts your frame of mind, even for just a few seconds, I feel I’ve been successful in what I am trying to achieve with my watercolors.
